[tHe DaRk]

As this day seemingly goes by slower than ever, I'm found here searching my mind for a topic to write about.  There are many things in this world that I do think about, but some are so intense that they cannot even be put into words.  So much happens in just one day, that its hard to focus in on just one thought.  Today I'm mostly stuck with the thought of what it would be like to be old.  Now by old I mean like a grandparent or even great-grandparents.  Do you ever wonder what kind of thoughts go threw their head, every night when they go to bed?  Do they ever wonder if they will make it through the night? Or by that time does it just not matter to them, they've excepted the way of life?  People my age go to bed at night, or even sometimes early morning, and all they have to worry about is, how late they will get to sleep till the next day.  It's like an unwritten competition to see who can sleep the longest.  For the elderly is it a competition to see who can go to sleep the most and still wake up?  Are they afraid when they catch just a regular cold, because their immune systems are weaker that they could fall to their death?  Could you even put yourself into the body of an elderly person.  Can you even relate to their lives?  Would you be able to last the night, or would the fear of not waking up over take your confidence?  Would you like being couped up in a nursing home everyday all day and knowing that that is going to be the place where you die?  These thoughts all come to mind when my grandmother catches a cold and jokes around about her not thinking she would survive (or it seemed as if it was a joke).  What if she really didn't survive?  She went to bed tonite, and unfortunately never woke up when the sun began to rise?  If tomorow for some strange reason I woke up as an elderly person would I be able to survive or would I just run and hide?  Maybe it's just me who thinks of all these things.  But what if there are people who are afraid to go to sleep at night in fear of not waking in the morning? What if there are people who are scared to catch a cold in dismay that their bodies may not be able to fight it off?  What if people don't care about  the world around them?  What if the elderly are left to suffer?  What kind of a world would we be then?  Some may say an exceptional one others may say an awful one.  IF we leave the elderly to suffer, you must realize that one day you too will suffer.  Be aware of those around you.  Notice how they live their lifes, how they treat others, and how you treat them.  The way I live my life effects the people around me.  The way you live your life, effects society.  Live, Learn, Love
